What is Trovomics?

Simply put, Trovomics is a platform for streamlined RNA-Seq analysis, but our origins and aspirations go way beyond that. We provide a robust and standardized analysis pipeline made up of hand selected industry-proven tools to turn your raw data into critical insights. Trovomics also supports you in your analysis journey through consultations (we talk more about what a consultation looks like here), which are available with all paid subscription plans. However, our origins and aspirations go way beyond this.

Who is Trovomics?

COVID lockdowns barred Giana Schena and Emma Murray, two Temple University PhD candidates, from their thesis research. But their fiery imaginations and enterprise could not be suppressed. As they prepared their garden for a new spring season, an idea sprouted.

The idea of Trovomics was rooted in solving the inefficiencies of academic research that they both experienced. Vast amounts of omics data produced from academic research could be used to improve health care and patient lives, but often remained buried behind laboratory doors due to difficulties in analysis. Giana had dedicated thousands of dollars to obtain sequencing data only to realize no one in the lab knew how to harvest results from it. An experience that many researchers shared beyond her university. Then there was Emma, who knew quite a lot about analyzing sequencing data. Their discussions expanded into how to make the analysis of any type of big data more accessible, without the need for formal bioinformatics training. Add an entrepreneur from Rajant Health (RHI) into the conversation, and the Trovomics department of RHI was formed.

Why “Trovomics”?

Our name, Trovomics, is inspired by the Italian word trovare (meaning “to find”) and the word omics (referring to the characterization and quantification of any pool of big data). Quite literally, our name means to find solutions through omics. Our name is truly representative of our philosophy. At Trovomics, we believe that bioinformatic solutions are indispensable to improving overall world health. And we don’t want to limit ourselves to RNA-Seq data. We also seek to harness other omics data, such as socioeconomics and epigenomics, as these can have undeniable impacts on human health.

Mission & Vision

Trovomics’ mission is to open access to high-quality bioinformatic analysis, whether it be for drug development or understanding a disease. We envision a community where the power of omics is readily harnessed to yield advancements in various industries by eliminating the inefficiencies in today’s research pipelines. Our goal is to become the go-to resource for researchers around the world to find actionable insights from omics data while providing an unparalleled user experience.

Trovomics aims to break down the technical barriers to bioinformatics by providing a platform for omics analysis that is accessible to all researchers, regardless of bioinformatics expertise. It is a modern and intuitive platform that transforms omics data into highly interactive and customizable visualizations for researchers to extract the most pertinent results from sequencing data for the greatest impact on biological studies.
